  •  A paragraph about your early experiences using Twitter. With whom have you been interacting and how have you found it beneficial?  How might Twitter be helpful in your future career?
  • A paragraph about the digitial divide.  How does the digital divide affect student success in schools? What are some causes of the digital divide?  Reflect on what you may experience as a classroom teacher and how this will affect your teaching strategies.
  • A paragraph about academic software for students.  Identify two software tools you would like to implement in your future classroom.  Describe the software tools and why you would like to use them with your future students.

My early experiences with twitter revolved around learning who to follow and what to post. I made my personal account and was curious which of my friends i'd be able to find on the app. As I was searching I realized many of the celebrities and icons I was interested in also had accounts, and with a simple click i could follow them all. I'm not sure twitter benefited me back then, but I can confidently say that now after years of changing who I follow and what I view I not only learn new things about the world and the people I follow, but also stay on top of the latest of everything. Twitter may not directly impact my future career, but I'm sure as time continues to change the way we teach the technological uses in the classroom will also change.
The digital divide is a big issue in school systems. Many students come from underprivileged communities/families and don't have access to basic technology. I think when students like this come to school-especially in today's society-they are at a slight disadvantage compared to other students. They don't have the skills their peers already do, and though they can be taught it may slow down the overall classroom flow. Overcoming this obstacle doesn't necessarily require parents pushing financial limits, but could become easier if there is constant effort to get these students into libraries or areas who have available technology.
I want to use interactive powerpoints in my classroom (display on whiteboard and have open space for students to draw/write on board in the open areas). I also want students to be comfortable writing online for essays, and using computer programs to advance their skills in various subjects.
